The traditional model is broken.
We built something different.

GolfRx is a lifestyle-based mental performance platform — not a therapy practice. We’re looking for licensed professionals who are tired of insurance gymnastics, six-week wait-lists, and the assumption that every distressed person needs a prescription pad. The role is narrow, the work is clean, and the philosophy is unapologetically anti-establishment.

Before You Apply

Read this carefully. We mean it.

GolfRx isn’t for every licensed professional. We’re not a therapy platform with a golf theme. We’re a structured, lifestyle-based mental performance program that uses an evidence-based behavioral framework — and we need a licensed professional to conduct the qualifying assessment that establishes individualized medical necessity for HSA-eligible members.

That’s the entire role. No session work. No long-term caseload. No insurance. No managing crises at 11pm. If that sounds like a relief, keep reading. If you’re hoping to build a therapy practice on our platform, this isn’t that — and we’d rather both of us know that before the application.

This is for you if

You’re done with the conventional model.

  • You’re a licensed clinical professional (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, psychologist, psychiatric NP, MD) in good standing
  • You believe lifestyle interventions should come before prescriptions for the majority of cases
  • You’re tired of insurance-driven care dictating treatment length, modality, and documentation
  • You want a clean side stream of income that doesn’t require building a caseload
  • You’re comfortable with structured assessments rather than open-ended session work
  • You appreciate performance and intentionality framing over pathology-first language

This is NOT for you if

You want a conventional therapy practice on our platform.

  • You want a full caseload of long-form therapy clients as your primary income source
  • You prefer ongoing weekly session work over structured one-time assessments
  • You’re uncomfortable with a non-medicalized, lifestyle-first framing of wellness
  • You expect GolfRx to route crisis or high-acuity cases through you — we refer those out
  • You expect insurance billing or third-party reimbursement support
  • You need polished, perfected workflows on day one — we’re early and still building

A note on where we are

This is the ground floor of something new.

GolfRx is early. The product is built, the clinical model is sound, the legal framework is solid — but not every workflow, tool, or process is fully polished. You’ll catch rough edges. You’ll have ideas about how to improve things. Sometimes you’ll be the first clinician to hit a particular scenario, and we’ll figure it out together.

If that sounds like a problem, it’s a problem. If it sounds like an opportunity to help shape something genuinely new in the wellness space — to be one of the founding clinicians of a category-defining platform — you’re going to thrive here. We’re looking for people who want to build something, not just plug into something already finished.

Why GolfRx Exists

Because the default playbook isn’t working.

Somewhere along the way, “I’m stressed” became a diagnosis. Burnout became billable. Lifestyle factors got pushed to the bottom of the chart while the prescription pad came out first.

None of that is the clinician’s fault — it’s a system optimized for throughput, not outcomes. But the result is a generation of high-functioning, hard-working people who’ve been handed a pill or a 50-minute hour and told to come back next week.

GolfRx is the alternative. A structured, evidence-based behavioral program built around an activity people genuinely want to do — delivered without the conventional baggage. Our members are typically high-performing men who would never have set foot in a traditional therapy office. We meet them where they already are.

The over-medicalization problem

Reasonable life stress is increasingly treated as clinical disease. We’re not anti-medication — we’re anti-medication-as-default when behavioral and lifestyle interventions haven’t been seriously attempted.

The access problem

The people most affected by stress and burnout — high-functioning professionals, business owners, men in midlife — are often the least likely to engage with conventional care. Reframing matters.

The intentionality problem

Most people don’t need more wellness content. They need a structured reason to step away, a system to follow, and permission to take their own well-being seriously. That’s the product.

The Role

Narrow scope. Clean work. Zero overhead.

Your role on the GolfRx platform is intentionally focused: conduct a structured qualifying assessment with a prospective member, determine whether they meet criteria for a behavioral lifestyle intervention, and — where appropriate — issue a Letter of Medical Necessity under IRC §213(d). That’s it. No ongoing sessions. No caseload management. No insurance.

Conduct the assessment

A structured ~60-minute virtual intake using our standardized protocol. We provide the framework, the screening tools, and the documentation templates.

Issue the LMN where appropriate

For members who clinically qualify, you sign a Letter of Medical Necessity establishing the behavioral lifestyle intervention as medically necessary. We supply the template; you exercise clinical judgment.

That’s the core role.

No required follow-up sessions, no caseload management, no after-hours pages. The assessment is the deliverable. Some clinicians choose to offer ongoing GolfRx-aligned coaching to members who request it — but that’s optional and separate from the core role.

The Philosophy

We’re not anti-treatment.
We’re anti-default.

GolfRx exists because the conventional model has gotten lazy about behavioral interventions. Movement, structure, sleep, social connection, time outdoors, deliberate practice of a skill — these are the most well-supported interventions in the literature for stress, anxiety, and the broad bucket of high-functioning burnout. And yet the average person walks out of an appointment with a prescription rather than a structured lifestyle plan.

None of that is the average clinician’s fault. The system is built for 15-minute med-checks and pre-authorized session counts. We’re not here to indict individual providers — many of them are quietly frustrated by the same constraints we are. We’re here to build the alternative.

If you read that and nodded, you’re our person. If you read that and felt defensive, that’s useful information too. We’d rather find out now than three months in.

The Onboarding

From application to your first assessment.

We’ve built the onboarding to be efficient, structured, and respectful of your time. Most qualified applicants are fully onboarded within 2–3 weeks. The pathway is deliberately rigorous on the legal and clinical side — that’s what makes the LMN model defensible.

What you don’t have to do

Questions you should have.

We’ve tried to answer the real questions here rather than the easy ones. If something isn’t covered, this probably isn’t the right fit — and that’s a useful signal.

The Letter of Medical Necessity is grounded in IRC §213(d), which permits expenses incurred for the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease to qualify as medical care. When a licensed professional, acting within scope, determines that a structured behavioral intervention is medically necessary for a specific member, the associated costs may qualify as HSA-eligible medical expenses. GolfRx does not advise members on HSA reimbursement — we provide the clinical pathway and documentation, and members handle reimbursement with their own plan administrator. The defensibility of the model rests on individualized clinical judgment, not platform-wide claims.

Your scope is the qualifying assessment and, where appropriate, the LMN issuance. You are not providing therapy, managing ongoing care, or treating high-acuity conditions through the platform. If a prospective member presents with acute risk, active substance dependence, severe mental illness, or other conditions outside the scope of a behavioral lifestyle intervention, the appropriate action is to decline the LMN and refer them to a higher level of care. GolfRx maintains a referral pathway for these cases.

Yes — and this is the one piece we want to be transparent about. The core role is the structured assessment and LMN issuance. That’s the deliverable, and that’s what we pay for. Separately, GolfRx-trained clinicians may offer ongoing coaching or follow-up work to members who specifically request additional support — this is a small, optional part of the platform and is structured outside the core assessment workflow. It’s not how most clinicians earn the majority of their income on the platform, and it’s not a pipeline of long-form therapy clients. Think of it as: the assessment is the role, and a small subset of members may want continued engagement with a familiar GolfRx-trained professional.

No. The integrity of the model depends entirely on your independent clinical judgment. If a member doesn’t meet criteria, you decline the LMN and that’s the end of your involvement. GolfRx does not pressure clinicians on outcome rates, and any indication that we did would undermine the legal basis for the entire platform. We track decline rates only for clinician-side quality assurance — never to influence individual decisions.

You can conduct assessments for members located in any state where you hold an active license in good standing. We verify your licensure during onboarding and route members accordingly. Multi-state licensure is welcome but not required — single-state clinicians simply receive assessments from members in their licensure state.

You maintain your own professional malpractice insurance, as you would in any independent practice. GolfRx carries platform-level coverage and operational liability. The clinician services agreement spells out the boundaries clearly. We require proof of active malpractice coverage at onboarding and on annual renewal.

Existing clients of yours can absolutely become GolfRx members — but the assessment for HSA eligibility purposes should be conducted with appropriate independence and documentation. We’ll walk through the cleanest way to handle that during onboarding. The model works best when clinician and member meet through the platform, but pre-existing professional relationships are not disqualifying.

Honestly — variable, especially in the early months of the platform. As GolfRx grows, assessment volume grows. We won’t promise you a specific number because that would be misleading. Clinicians who treat this as a side stream rather than a primary income source tend to be the best fit. As the platform scales, high-availability clinicians will see proportionally more volume.

A structured intake covering: presenting concerns, current stress and functioning levels, validated screening instruments for relevant conditions (anxiety, depression, burnout indicators), lifestyle assessment (sleep, movement, alcohol, social connection), prior treatment history, and clinical judgment on whether a structured behavioral lifestyle intervention is medically necessary. The full protocol is covered in the certification training.

The certification is a platform credential, not a state or national license. It indicates you’ve completed our 7-module training on the GolfRx assessment protocol, the LMN framework, and the platform’s scope-of-practice boundaries. It does not replace, modify, or extend your underlying licensure — and we never represent it as doing so. It’s a quality signal that you’ve been trained on how this specific platform operates.

We’re not anti-clinician — we’re anti-default. The brand voice is built for our members, who are typically high-performing professionals who would never walk into a traditional therapy office. The language is pitched at them. Internally, we have deep respect for licensed clinicians; the entire model depends on your judgment. If the voice grates on you, that’s a real signal — our members are going to encounter that voice every day, and you’ll want to be aligned with it rather than fighting it.

If after reading this page you still need significant additional information before deciding whether to apply, this probably isn’t the right fit for you — and we mean that respectfully. The role is intentionally narrow and the structure is intentionally clear. Clinicians who thrive on the platform are typically self-directed and read this page and immediately know whether it’s their thing. That said, if there’s a specific factual question we haven’t addressed, email clinicians@gogolfrx.com and we’ll respond directly. The application itself includes space to note any specific questions or unusual situations.
